Limited-Edition Photographs of Different Models and Eras of Airplanes

Aviation photography is a very specific discipline of the eighth art. It requires total mastery of lighting – to obtain high-quality photos – since the subjects are mainly out of doors. There are thousands of different models of planes. We find American planes, military planes, commercial planes, all kinds of designs, light planes, white planes, etc. To create beautiful photos against a white background, it is recommended to photograph specific parts of the plane, such as the wings, by visiting international airports for instance, to obtain a wide range of models and thus create prestigious and collectable images. Planes have the particularity of often being photographed both static and in motion. Many photographers capture planes taking off, or during the flight, with cloud photographs. Aviation remains a unique field that is very intriguing for the general public but also for professional photographers.

Renowned international photographers have turned this practice into a true art form. We can now distinguish two variations in these photographs. A second type of aviation photography, practiced by Olivier Lavielle for instance, consists of taking shots of planes on the ground. This approach is more interested in detail and aims to highlight the elegant lines of these impressive machines. The talented artists of YellowKorner convey many emotions through their gaze: strength, resilience, and sensuality. This technological prowess that aircraft represent is revealed through the photographic apparatus, along with their bewitching and fascinating power.

A Few Words on Our Photographers Passionate About Aviation

Civil aviation photography is a photographic art involving patience and imagination. Artist Mina Mimbu places the airplane in poetic and dreamlike environments, often photographs of the sky. She combines the innocence of the world of childhood with technological power. Her airplane shots leave the viewer with a magical souvenir… A practice very different from that of famous photographer Jean Dieuzaide. The official photographer of Sud Aviation, passionate about aviation, he has taken all kinds of risks throughout his career to capture humanity’s most beautiful invention mid-flight, from fighter jets to airliners like the Concord. His images of planes in black and white visually express the power and grandeur of this machine.

A symbol of travel and freedom, aviation is above all an amazing feat that has been captured from its earliest days by talented photographers. A fine selection of these limited-edition photographs are available for you to explore at YellowKorner. You can find art photographs in a wide range of prices and select the format and finish of your choice.
