Why photography ?
I was growing up surrounded with photography thanks to my father who is a photographer as well, so I naturally picked up the tool that was most familiar to me. It was my foundation, a starting point to all my later explorations.
Your inspiration ?
Over the years I learned to look at the world in a way that allows me to see inspiration in everything that happens. Yet I am rarely able to pinpoint the exact source of that inspiration. It's more about combining different life experiences, pictures and events to find something that helps me to connect with myself. Inspiration is just a door and it never looks the same as the last time you found it.
What is unique in your photographs ?
What is unique is the atmosphere – the worlds I create exist somewhere on the verge of consciousness, in a place where you slowly delve into the subconscious world of symbols and metaphors that take you and guide you on a journey within.
The context of creation of your new series
The goal of this series is to balance out the dark world I show in "The Minipeople" series. You can look at it as portraying a different layer of the mind, a place of rest, a space for contemplation.
Any anecdote for us ?
The biggest anecdote is the fact that I have realized over and over again in recent years about how far you have to find what you always had with you. You leave only to find out that what you are looking for is the exact thing you left behind.
The picture you would have loved to shoot ?
I would love to shoot in Africa one day.
The latest prizes / awards / prides you got ?
Last year my works were featured in #29 issue of Beautiful Bizarre Magazine and in the book "100 Photographize
Best Selected 2020" created and curated by Photographize.
Your next projects ?
For the past three years I've been working on a series of illustrations
I've been constantly working on "The Minipeople" – a series of pictures I started three years ago that depicts my journey through the dark parts of the human psyche. Apart from that I also do some smaller side projects from time to time, but these are not usually planned beforehand.
Your motto ?
I have many different quotes or mottos that inspire me in different moments of my life or even different moments throughout the day. One quote that has been with me recently is the following by Anthony de Mello: “What you are aware of you are in control of; what you are not aware of is in control of you.”
Any crush on a YK picture ?
I think there would be more than one, but if I had to choose I would go with surreal worlds created by Michal Karcz.
