Konrad K
Konrad K. was first drawn to photography for his work. A geologist by profession, he needed to document his research work in the 1990s: "I then integrated the basics and techniques needed to accurately describe landscapes, as an architect would", he explains. He then turned his attention to a more "societal and ethnological" approach, and took up documentary photography, which led to photojournalism and a position with the SIPA agency. In recent years, he has developed a more artistic approach to his work, with references to the black-and-whites of Ansel Adam and the timelessness of the images of painter Edward Hopper. His photos are regularly published in media such as Paris Match, Le Figaro, The Guardian and Der Speigel. He is also the author of 101 Wonders of Biodiversity You Must Have Seen in Your Life (2017). "As an artistic photographer I want to raise awareness and move people," he explains, "not by showing the catastrophes that result from climate change, but by using my photography to bear witness to the beauty and ephemeral balance in this threat."
